Meet Casey: FRIENDS' New Community Living Coordinator

Hi! My name is Casey Recabarren, and I recently joined FRIENDS as the new Community Living Program Coordinator!

I have worked in the field of disability-inclusive education for more than 20 years. I hold a bachelor’s degree in speech and language pathology and a master’s degree in public health, with a focus on health behavior and health education. Prior to joining FRIENDS, I worked within the global disability rights, advocacy, and international development community in Washington, DC.

Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to teach and work alongside learners across four continents, representing more than 52 countries. These experiences have strengthened my passion for creating engaging, inclusive, and meaningful learning opportunities for people of all ages and abilities.

Outside of my work with FRIENDS, I am part of the special education team at Boulder Valley School District. I am also a mom to two vibrant children, a painter, a runner, and a lifelong learner. I am excited to bring my experience, enthusiasm, and commitment to inclusive communities to FRIENDS!
